Mrs.Mahalakshmi Varadhan was born in Chennai, India and started learning Bharatnatyam since she was seven years old. She started her Bharatnatyam classes with K.Balachandramal and K.J.Sarasa. She completed her Arangaetram in 1986 under the guidance of Guru K.J.Sarasa.
She got married and moved to U.S.A. Shortly afterwards she started teaching Bharatnatyam in 1996. She is dedicated to sharing her experience and knowledge about the rich Indian culture and on Bharatnatyam, one of the oldest dance forms in the world. Mahalakshmi’s lifelong passion for dance led her to establish Noopura Dance Academy in Chicago, Illinois to train students in Bharatnatyam. In Ann Arbor, Michigan - Mahalakshmi Varadhan has participated in Bharatnatyam dance ballets such as 'Gauthama Buddha' and 'Shiva Parvathi' with Mrs. Malini Srirama who served on the Indian Dance Educators Association. Mahalakshmi Varadhan has received an award in Huntsville, Alabama in 2009 for sharing and promoting Indian culture through Bharatnatyam dance. Mahalakshmi Varadhan is a dedicated dance teacher and has a wonderful happy personality. |
